Virginia Wineries Tour:

Because every glass of wine you taste here comes from vines rooted in soil once walked by eight Presidents born in Virginia-- George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison,

James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor, and Woodrow Wilson.

The same sun that ripened their orchards now warms the vineyards where you'll raise your glass.

You don't just visit wineries-You Taste History.

Each Estate stands on soil once farmed, walked, and fought for by the founders of our nation.

Here, the land tells a story in every pour.

You will travel through quiet hills once home to Washington, Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe--Men who shaped the country and cherished Virginia's fertile ground. Today, the soil produces wines as bold and enduring as their legacy

Jefferson is often considered America's first wine connoisseur. Like Washington, he drank sweeter wines, sherry, which was common at that time. However, his taste changed during his time in France. He liked Bordeaux, Rhone, and Italian wines. He encouraged Italian Viticulturist Fillipo Mazzei to establish a vineyard in Albemarle County.
